On 30 January 2024, the Memorial of Silence and Senator Jiří Oberfalzer invited representatives from Bohemian and Moravian memory institutions to attend a half-day discussion on the potential for establishing a platform aimed at developing the culture of memory. The meeting was held under the patronage of former President of the Senate Petr Pithart. Today’s new political and social challenges resulting from the current disinformation war and the spread of antisemitism and xenophobia in media demand more active coordination among commemorative organizations and the establishment of “memory culture” as a distinctive genre in its own right. We are at the beginning of a journey that we should have embarked on long ago.
